Celebrity Fitness with Maddison Carter

Hooray For Hypoxi! Posted by Emily 30 April, 2009 - 12:10 PM

As our regular celebrity fitness guru, Madison Carter was busily preparing for the Miss World finals we sent along one of our very own journo with bits to burn to review it.

Hypoxi is the latest in hot celebrity fitness trends sweeping the UK, The States and now Australia. And if it's good enough to melt away Robbie Williams love handles (he owns his own machine), and Madonna puts it under the pump then we were definitely going to put it to the test to see what it does for us mere mortals!

Here's the lowdown:

"I put on what looked like a Judy Jetson spacesuit made of a sort of wetsuit material, got plugged into the hypoxi machine (it resembles a small space ship), my assistant set the right vacuum suction for my programme and viola...  I started peddling the machine .

It was like supermodel space camp!

The hypoxi machine gently sucks down on pressure spots around my tummy, thighs and bum while gently heating up the 'space machine' while I peddled against a slight pressure.

It's not overtly taxing, it's actually quite enjoyable and bonus factor is that the lovely assistants always have a stack of glam mags to read and Sex And The City vids to watch while you work out.

Time flies when you're having fun!

To be honest for the first week and a half I didn't notice much of a result but in the final week the centimetres dropped off.

After three weeks of four 30 minute sessions there was a total loss of 35 cm around my target spots, I'd dropped a dress size and I definitely felt like I'd had a-list star treatment.

I was actually quite sad to say goodbye to my lovely assistant Tori on my final session."

Thumbs up review!

I first heard about Hypoxi from a friend who had tried and had great results!!!

After training for the last 5 years with a personal trainer I can honestly say that I have had more success with Hypoxi, losing fat and toning in my hips & thighs than I did with weights and boxing.

I now run a Hypoxi studio at Sylvania Waters and am changing other peoples lives and loving it.

Hypoxi makes you want to eat healthy. Working from the inside out, it's all about increasing blood circulation & your metabolism.

Thankyou Shamiran for introducing me to Hypoxi, it has changed my life and given me back my confidence : )

I did the tummy version of the Hypoxi after having my second baby and dropped from a size 18 jeans to a size 14 jeans (which I didn't even fit before having my kids!).
    These machines are awesome.

Very skeptical at first but it really did work - lost an amazing 30cms in the month before my wedding! Really made my skin glow and super toning result as well. Thumbs up from me!

I am disappointed with Hypoxi. After 4 weeks of completing 3 sessions/week and following all the guidelines of not eating carbs and exercising, I have not seen the results purported on the Hypoxi websites. My honest advice - don't waste your money as it's not cheap to sign up for 12 sessions! You can achieve the same results by keeping active through walking, swimming, aerobics or other less expensive options!

Hi Chris - maybe you went in with a negative attitude. I've been attending my local Hypoxi studio in Sydney in the lead up to my wedding. I have struggled with my weight my whole life and Hypoxi has been the first thing which has worked. My fiance noticed the difference after 3 weeks and now I'm hooked. I've tried compression therapy and cupping in the past and paid hundreds of dollars for those treatments. With Hypoxi, I get to exercise and have my treatment all at the same time. And when I look at myself now, I think it is good value. The women I've spoken to in the studio have similar experience - so maybe you were on the wrong settings or something.

I want to try Hypoxi but I am already a size 8. I want to use it to lose cellulite. I have severe cellulite from my bottom to my knees. Does anyone know if it is still worth trying for this aspect as opposed to weight loss?

I was so excited about starting hypoxi and am so dissapointed. I am nearly finished my 4 weeks and cannot for the life of me see a differrence. I am a size 10 but have cellulite around my thighs and thought this would be my cure. Dissapointment doesnt describe how I feel as I paid a lot of money and feel like I got nothing. I am on a really strict carb diet and do additional excercise also - I can honestly say that I have never cheated (why would i pay $600 and do that?) so I am at a loss to understand & quiet heart broken. It just goes to show there are no miracle cures and I am about to go extremely hard at the gym yet again. If it changes I will be the first to shout it from the roof tops but at this stage, I just feel depressed about the whole thing. Not fair :(

    hi all,

Ive just completed 15 hypoxi session and loss a total of 19cm in conjunction with moderate exercise on other days and slight changes to my diet.

Using the same model machine as above, i did 3x30mins sessions a week. Ate very minimum carb after treatment between 4-6hrs.

My main are of cm losses are from hips (4 fingers/6cm below belly button) down to my legs.
    Waist 0cm Stomach 3.5cm hips 7cm Bottom 3cm Legs 1.5cm R leg 2cm L leg 2.5cm R knee 1cm L knee +1cm.

    Conclusion..
I am satify with the results Hypoxi has given me but just a little disappointed that it has not give me a flat stomach the main reason when signing up for hypoxi. I think if i follow the same diet restrictions and using the bike in the gym would it will deliver the same results.

    Goodluck everyone!
