Roadworks Bulletin

Main Roads Western Australia is trialling a reduction in night-time street lighting on some major Perth roads to assist in the overall response to the State's gas shortage. The reduction in lighting is contained to the Mitchell and Kwinana Freeways, Graham Farmer Freeway, and Roe, Reid and Tonkin Highways where every second or third street lamp will be switched off, whilst ensuring that intersections and merging areas remain well lit.

METROPOLITAN

HIGHWAYS & FREEWAYS
Albany Highway between Carradine Rd and Curtis Rd day works (4 to 24 August, 7am to 5pm): Single lane closures to enable asphalt resurfacing works.

Great Eastern Highway, The Nanamullen Bridge near Clackline has a speed limit over the bridge of 80 km/h. Significant damage was caused under the bridge earlier in the year by an unidentified vehicle. Main Roads Heavy Vehicle Section has restored access to the bridge for vehicles entitled to traverse the bridge prior to the damage occurring.
Great Northern Highway, Upper Swan: The overtaking lane for southbound traffic between Warbrook Rd and Apple St will remain closed until further notice. Work crews will return in spring to complete an extension to the lane. Meanwhile, work has been completed on the widening and reconstruction of a 1.7km section of the Highway from Apple Street to just north of West Swan Rd.
Great Northern Highway North of New Norcia: Speed reduced to 60kph for altered road conditions where crest is being cut. Speed reduced to 80kph in other sections. South West of Bindi Bindi Off road works through 13 km section of the Highway immediately south west of Bindi Bindi. Speed reduced to 60kph adjacent to barriers. 80kph in other sections.
Mitchell Freeway South Bound Lane near Leederville Train Station closure of emergency stopping lane and median lane from 10am to 4pm to be completed mid August: To enable the installation of a new safety barrier that separates the Freeway and the Rail Line north from Leederville Train Station. Speed restrictions are in place.
Mitchell Freeway Extension (Hodges Dr to Burns Beach Rd):
Expect lane closures and some delays at Burns Beach Road, Shenton Avenue and Hodges Drive interchanges as construction work continues. With the project moving into its final stages there will be a considerable amount of construction activities occurring close to moving traffic. Motorists are also advised that Buick Way Joondalup will be closed at Hodges Dve from Aug 4 2008 and anyone wishing to enter Winton Rd will need to use Joondalup Drive. All motorists are asked to take extra care when driving in and around the road works and always adhere to the traffic signage.

The New Perth Bunbury Highway (NPBH):

  1. Safety Bay Road diversion - traffic has been diverted west, at the very end of the Kwinana Freeway onto a newly constructed road. Speed restrictions apply. The diversion will remain in place until the NPBH is opened. Motorists are advised to take care.
  1. Paganoni Rd in Karnup - traffic is being diverted onto a side track at various locations and speed restrictions are in place. Motorists are advised to use an alternative route if possible due to expected delays.
  2. Paganoni Road temporary closure - between Marlock Place and Amarillo Drive from mid August 2008 for approximately 4 weeks.
  3. Stock Road in Parklands - traffic will be diverted west onto a newly constructed road around the bridge site at the end of August 2008.
  4. Changes to Lymon Road in Stake Hill - motorists will need to access Lymon Road via Sheoak Road and Woodland Parade from the end of August 2008 due to the Stock Road diversion.
  5. Lakes Road in Barragup - is expected to be detoured around the NPBH site during the first week of August 2008. Speed restrictions and traffic management is currently in place.
  6. Pinjarra Rd in North Yunderup - the westbound traffic lane in the vicinity of the Murray River has been reduced to one lane. Speed restrictions apply.
  7. South Yunderup Rd in South Yunderup - traffic signals in place within the immediate vicinity of the bridge construction site.
  8. Greenlands Road in West Pinjarra - is temporarily detoured at the NPBH intersection site.
  9. Mills Road in Birchmont - is temporarily detoured at the NPBH intersection site.

Roe Highway, at the intersection of Great Eastern Highway, (Sunday 3 August, 9pm -12 midnight): Stormwater drainage reconstruction works. Traffic travelling south on Roe Highway and wishing to turn east on to Great Eastern Highway will be detoured via Morrison Road and Farrell Roads during the period of the works.
Tonkin Highway (between Great Eastern Highway & Kewdale Road) day works (4 - 8 August 2008). Lateral Clearance motorists are asked to take extra care when driving in and around the road works and always adhere to the traffic signage.
Tonkin Highway Median Strip Nightworks (3 - 7 August 2008). Mowing of median strip. Expect lane closures and some delays. Motorists are asked to take extra care when driving in and around the road works and always adhere to the traffic signage.
Tonkin Highway, Forrestfield (August 1 - 8, 9am to 3pm) Expansion joint repairs to both bridge's over Abernethy road. Lane closures and 60kph speed restrictions apply.
Wanneroo Road & Ocean Reef Road, (Until 30 August 2008): Intersection improvements. Off-peak lane closures during the week and all day Saturday.
Wanneroo Road & Kingsway, (Until 30 August 2008): Intersection improvements. Off-peak lane closures during the week and all day Saturday.
