Sex And The City, You're Setting a Bad Example

Well, well what have you done here??? To the makers of the Sex And The City movie, I think you're setting a bad example.
I went along to the movie to see what all the hype was about. I know that when ever you say the famous four words SEX.AND.THE.CITY women of the world go mad, absolutely mental, if you were at a funeral for your parents and someone, just as a tests dropped those four words into the eulogy, the tears would turn to screams of excitement.
I didn't mind the show, I saw a few episodes throughout the six series and I thought it was ok. Living in a house with two sisters and a mother it was playing on repeat 24 hours a day in more that one room. Back then I thought it was a bad example to set for women. I remember sitting in front of the TV with my younger sister while the four girls were sitting in the back of a limo and Samantha was talking about all the different sex positions she can do. I thought 'that is setting a bad example', especially the "Persuading the debtor" a mate of mine sprained his neck attempting that one.
It's not a movie you would see on a date because half way though the film the movie basically focuses on the fact the women don't need men and men can't do anything right. For some reason while the women in the cinema gasped every time there was another bloody hand bag on the screen I sat there angered at how the movie portrayed men.
Look it's obvious that we're different, we know that and I'm all for women's lib, but you don't need to attack men in the way this film does. There is one scene in the movie where the women sit around drinking "Cosmos" and they make the decision that it's the men in their life that are destroying it and that life is better with them. The end of the movie does portray the true understanding of a relationship but that's not the point.
I suppose I'm feeling labelled. All guys aren't the same and I suppose I just abit sick of the stereo typing that goes on in this film. I know this is going to sound like I'm joking here but men also have feelings but we're always portrayed as the selfish bastard. Men can do things right believe it or not but we always hear about the wrong things and we never celebrate the great things men do. In fact there should be a male appreciation day, where all day long women can just say "thank you", "thank you, thank you, thank you for being a man."
For any men that have seen the film, did you feel the same and for women reading this blog ask yourself when you hear the word "Men" dose it excite you and make you feel warm inside or doesn't it make you frown and course the world. We're not that bad I promise.

Wippa!!! SSSSShhhh... don't you realise the more time women devote to shoes, hand bags and $300 hairs do's the less time the have to take over the world.
Why do you think we got a bloke to make the movie...
Women know your place!

Murf - women know their place perfectly well otherwise you boys wouldn't be getting any action !!
Nice to see your sensitve side Wippa !
It's true women don't appreciate men as much as they should. I would really appreciate a bloke that paid my credit card bills, cleaned the gutters, fixed the car, cooked me dinner, poured the wine....

Wippa, you are upset at the way men are portrayed in this film? How about al the millions of films that have been made in the last hundred years that portrays women as ditzy bimbos who need a man to save the day? It is about time we have a film that lets women understand that men are a want and not a need. Society has always pushed the ideology that women need men cause we can't live without them. This film is about female empowerment. Of course you would be horrified, How about a day to thank women? how about a day to thank women for putting up with you. No not all men are the same your right and my boyfriend is fantastic but this a film is about girl power and has nothing to do male masculinity.

Blimey I was only having a laugh....
The reality is we are all the same, some strong, some weak, some clever, some stupid.
This film tries to re-enforce a stereotypes that women should be this and men the other, when in fact men and women are the same (apart from the obvious).
It's a terrible film with an equally terrible message
The obvious message in the film is consume, consume, consume and it might make you happy. But the darker underlying theme is, we all put too much emphasis on materiel possessions and our status in the community, forsaking relationships in case something better comes along. We think our careers are so important, so important that we'll work 12 hours a day and spend no time with the kids or our partners and then when your 50 you'll think what the hell has happened.
We'll spend thousands on dresses, shoes and TV's when there are people in our own streets who can't even afford to feed themselves. We are selfish inward looking people on a path to self destruction and we seem to be loving every minute of it... well if you're rich you are.

I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion!
However, i dont feel there ia any need to be getting so upset and offended by the movie. As "B" said, its a movie, and thats all it is. why cant we go watch a movie anymore without people reading deep into it and getting all offended??
What happened to watching a movie and leaving it at that?
