Is It Wrong For Your Best Friend to Buy You Undies?

Ok, so this morning I was attacked on air about my mate Hamish buying me Banana Repuplic underwear on his holiday to New York.
I don't see what the big deal is. I love my black Banana Republic undies and you can only get them in the States. It made sense for my mate Hamish to bring me back a pair.
Em said that undies are something only I should buy for myself. Or my girlfriend or wife-to-be should buy them for me......
I think it's totally fine for my mate to buy my undies.
Thoughts?
