Animals at the Perth Royal Show

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of effort that the farmers and animal breeders put in to showing their animals at the Royal Show. Shampoo, blow dried and perfumed - I've always wondered what the animals think about it all. Are they thinking, "wow this is great - much better than waiting for the abattoir truck" Or do they feel exploited? I suppose its a question we'll never know the answer to.
What we do know the answer to is just how much fun these animals are, from the smallest little chicks to the big heifers. And at the Show, you'll get to experience loads of animals. Being a bit of a city slicker, I rarely get the chance to get up close and personal to farm animals and it 's good for the kids. It gives them an appreciation of where that $6 burger came from. Some of you might think that's a bit flippant but its true - most young children don't make the correlation between cute baby calf and McDonalds and at the Show they can learn that. I'm wagering that many a Vet was inspired by a trip to the Royal Show to see the animals.
But my favourite part of the show had to be the dogs and as you can see from the photo above dogs and I have quite an affinity. We're loyal, loveable and a bit smarter than most domesticated animals.
So if you're planning a trip to the Show this year, don't leave without say g'day to the animals - they're a lovely, furry bunch.

Wipppa,
seriusly it is a good idea for children to realise that its ok to eat all of the cute little animals such as cows, chickens and all of the other lovely animals at the show. i agree with you on that topic.
as for the show animals. people do it to show off all of there hard work, time and love that they have put into these animals. My parents are Breeders and to see them get an award for winning in a catagory of a dog show really makes them and other people happpy. It is like when you work so hard on something and you get an AWARD its is the best feeling ever.
FYI all of thoes animals get treated like gods. half the time they like to be in dog shows it a great day out for them. alot of hard work and time goes into breeding dogs and keeping the standard high. in the future think about what comes out of your mouth.
Have a great day!
Dani : )
