What is the general feeling amongst service men and women about the Iraq people?

By this I mean is there recognition/compassion for the hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis killed, injured and basically had their lives destroyed by this war.

Is it a shared feeling of we all just want this to end? Or is it more of a them against us?

Liam: We are over there doing our job helping the Iraqi people. Most people back home don't realise, that the majority of the local people there love us, and they know that we are there to help them.

I'm 18 and thinking of joining the armed forces and was wondering what you would recommend is the best option for me. I'm thinking I might like to be an officer, but I'm not sure if I should join the Army, Navy or Air Force. What if any would you recommend?

Liam: If you, like leading and being in command of people, then officer is the way to go. If not probably get your hand dirty and join the army.

    Hi Liam,

My cousin was in the army and thankfully never got badly injured. What you were doing over there is such an inspiration to me and everyone i know. I just wanted to know if after everything that happened you had any thoughts of leaving the army?? Would you still recommend people join the army even after being injured the way you were? Fiona

Liam: The thought of leaving the army never crossed my mind, the first thing I thought was whether or not I could stay in. The army is a great experience so I would still recommend it.

    Hi Liam.
What aspects of your experience have enriched your life? Aside from the sight, what do you appreciate now more than before your deployment?

Liam: I enjoyed interacting with the local people in Iraq and seeing them have so much fun with one soccer ball. I appreciate my family a lot more now and catching up with mates.
