Why I hate my boobs - Mandy. Posted by Joseph Zammit 30 June, 2008 - 7:29 AM

mandy-boobs

I am a 30 year old mother of 2, and I know just as much as any woman how much your body can affect your self esteem.

I have always been large breasted and I have hated it all of my life. I went through my teens wearing ultra baggy clothes and most of the time hid behind jackets, not matter the weather.
I have experienced all that goes with having big boobs on a small frame: the most degrading of it all is when I am out shopping with my children, I have had stupid men making the most disgusting comments and the blatant staring or should I say ogling. I have on many occasions had to explain to my teenage son why people are so rude. I have also been the subject of many boob jokes and rude comments. I have learnt over the years to just laugh it off. But sometimes this just isn't so easy. Not only do I have to put up with the emotional issues with having large breasts, I have to deal with the physical. By the time that i get home from work my bra straps have left deep indentations in my shoulders.
I have long thought of having a breast reduction, but due to the cost, I have had to put it off for now. I have girlfriends that tell me that I will regret having it done, but they don't live with them. I have other girlfriends that offer to lie on the table next to me. It is so hard to buy a properly fitted bra when you are such an unusual size, i am a 10-12F dependent on the brand. I tried to get fitted in some shops and sometimes i feel like it is too hard to help me.

Mandy thinks her boobs are too big and wants a reduction. What do you think?

    Mandy...
    I also have large breasts...
First thing is first - Your Breasts are NOT too big. There are pleanty of men out there that love large breasted woman and pleanty of flat woman who love to swap with you.
I understand the teenage phase of dressing in baggy clothes... but here are a few tips I use in order to not let my large vreast effect my self esteem.
Ultra baggy clothes are a no no, your most likely hiding the bast parts of you body along with your big beauties. V shaped tops are also a no no - (if they come to low) showing too much cleavage looks tacky. I recomend straight or curved neck lines that hug your breast (BE in the RIGHT bra) I see from your photographs that one of your best features is right under the breast line... show this off by wearing a high belt or a top which pulls in at this point and then flairs over the reast of your stomach. Black is your best friend too, but don't be afraid of colour - this winter add colour with a bright scarth or earings etc. Ignore men with thier bad jokes - they have VERY SMALL PENIS's!
Don't get a breast reduction unless it the absolute LAST option for you and you REALLY need it. Your BIG BOOBS ARE BEAUTIFUL!

I know exactly where Mandy's coming from. I have a 12H breast and a 12F-12G breast. It's impossible to get a correctly fitted bra. I either have a roll ontop of my bra, have to stuff one size or have my underwires pinch my skin. I had a lady fitting me, that tried to put a 12DD bra and I felt angry and upset at the same time.

I get depressed as I'm in my early 20's and I have to wear 'nanna' bras, can't go to undercover wear partys with friends and find it difficult to buy clothes. I started wearing bras when I was 10. I had people flick my bra straps in class and talk about me about me behind my back (this drove my self esteem down.) For my yr 11 ball I had to buy a size 18 dress and get it tailored, but the thought of the dress size horrified me.

I've contenplaited having a breast reduction for emotional and physical reasons. I have a permanant indent from where my bras straps sit and my underwires sit. I have pains that shoot up my neck and down my arms after a long day. My concern is, if I pay all that money, will I end up with horrible scars? When I have children will my breasts go back the way they were and all that money become a waist?

I think Mandy should have a breast reduction as she has had her children and her body won't change that much.

There is ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING wrong with the size of your breasts! (not including Physical problems) My wife has big breasts aswell and wears clothes to flaunt them. She says "If you got it, Flaunt it".... Let them stare, it should make you feel good inside.Any rude jokes about you means they have something wrong with themselves and would rather tease other people than deal with there own inadequcies

I have always had large boobs, they got bigger when Iw as pregnant and didn't go down - I am now a 12H. I don't hate them - I hate that I cannot go into a shop and but a pretty bra - all the regular shops have to offer are big straps & backs which then restricts wearing nice tops in Summer etc - it really bugs me - I but my bra's on the internet at a cost of around $70+ each - I also have to buy my bathers online from overseas as I cannot get bathers to fit correctly - its so frustrating. Its the same with sports bras - I tend to slouch a fair bit as I feel that when I stand up straight I am sticking my boobs out and drawing attention to them - its so hard - I have seriously thought about having a reduction once I have finished having children as my grandmother suffered with back problems in later life. I wish bra makers would realise that just because you have big boobs doesn't mean you are old or fat and that we want to wear pretty bras & bathers etc...

At the beginning of last year I was a 16DD, then lost 25kg, bra size got down to a 10B, now after having another child I am a 16F. I hate them(my boobs) with a passion!!!! So, do what makes you feel happy...at the end of the day you have to live with them. As for me I am back on the fitness wagon again just to loose my hugh boobs.

I am not over the top big but I am larger than I was before I had my children. Of course my husband thinks they are great, but I was not to happy. That was until I found out about Intimo, they are the best bras I have had and the best part is you hold the party in your home with your girlfriends and you be sized for the right bra. These bars ar in no way grannyish. They are great.

i know how you feel. Though i am only 16 i am also a 10 F and still growing. i know exactly how you feel. and i'm just a teenager. i want to be able to go out finding pretty bra's with my girlfriends and run around at the pool like they can. at the moment i'm on my parents backs about breast reduction. everyday my bra straps cut right into my shoulders and back and it does hurt. i have to hold myself when i run for sport because i can't find the right size for me. and i also have to put up with stares and rude remarks from older men most the time when i go out too.
i'm glad to know that een though you're heaps older then me, it's easy to relate to some one who actually shares the same opinions and feeling about it.

do it. I am 22 now and about exactly when this post started i was in surgery. I was having back troubles shoulder pain etc. but there was also the self esteem issues. Its not cheep though, insurance only covers you for id say about 20% if that but if you ever get it done I will honestly for me it was the best thing I ever did. I was a G and I am now a DD and to be honest I feel like I am in the body i was always meant to have. I know this is way after this streem was posted but if you ever get a chance to read it dont listen to the people (ie. guys or girls who wish they had boobs) who try and tell you otherwise... they dont live the back pain or the constant self concious feelings. And I think while you are young there is even more reason to do it.

To anyone who is even contemplating it. see your GP and they will give you a referal if they feel you need it.
