Em & Wippa's Big Lesbian Wedding Posted by Em & Wippa 24 September, 2008 - 10:05 AM

Gay Wedding

With Em & Wippa's Big Lesbian Wedding just around the corner we wanted to know do you agree with same sex marriages.

It seems to be the thing to do in Hollywood at the moment as gay couple after gay couple declare their love in legal civil unions.

Yet in Australia the idea of same sex marriage is totally off the agenda. Although progress has been made with legislation to remove same-sex discrimination in areas such as tax, superannuation, social security, health, aged care, veterans entitlements, workers compensation and employment entitlements. So if the law will recognise the same entitlements why not allow gay people to marry.

The idea of a gay marriage seems to harden even the softest of politicians. Is it a religious thing? We're not sure that argument holds much water as heterosexual couples can marry with out the word "God" being uttered once.

We'd really like to know your thoughts on why you think gay couples aren't allowed to marry, how ever extreme your views may be.

I dont care how loud people protest, same sex marriage is revolting! It is becoming a sick epidemic. People are jumping on the bandwagon for the sake of it. Shame on you 92.9, you just lost a whole family of listeners

I Think absolutely, Same-sex marriages should be legal. People should not be punished because the person they are in love with is the same sex, after all we are all human and if that means that one female wants to be with another, then so be it. Who do people think they are trying to judge people they dont even know. I must admit, i dont know that many gay people, but the few i do know are just the same as everyone else, its just that their partner is the same sex, big deal. I still enjoy the company of gay friends as much as i do straight.

I think its really unfair that the government doesnt recognise two people of the same sex to be a defacto relationship, and therefore can not legally get married.

Some people can be so narrow-minded. I say people should be allowed to love who they want and they should not be stopped or punished for loving another human being.

I think we should legalise lesbian weddings at least - The man shortage in Perth is enough to turn a woman gay!

YES, YES, YES gay and lesbian marrige should be lagalised, we are just like everyone else, and deserve the same rights as others, we are trying to live our lives the best way we can, this is the hand we have been dealt, its hard enough being a little different to others without having to be pushed aside and stopped from living our lives the way we want like men and women couples. it really sucks that i cant marry the one i share my life with.. whatever happened to equality?????
