Daylight Saving
Em & Wippa 20 October, 2008 - 12:56 PM
It's that time of year again when the population of WA is split down the middle. Curtains fade, cows go crazy and Colin Barnett can't play tennis at five in the morning. It's a debate that fires up the even the meekest West Australian.
That's right it's Daylight Saving time!
It's the final year of the daylight saving trail before WA voters go to the polls for the forth time, the last referendum being over 16 years ago.
WA has changed considerably in those 16 years, not only has the sky line of Perth changed but so has the demographic of the population. Since 1992 the states population has grown by over half a million people. 13% percent of the population are migrants from the UK which as had Daylight Saving for over 50 years and a third of the population where born outside of Australia. So maybe this time around the result might be different.
We want to know what how you feel the trail went. What are your arguments for and against and at the end of it all whether you'll vote for it or not.
Daylight saving starts Sunday, the 26th of October. So on the Saturday night, before you go to bed, set all your clocks forward one hour. The trial ends on the 29th of March, 2009.

It feels like I'm on holiday I get home from work at 6.30 and with in half an hour I've forgotten I was even there. My husband enjoys it as well as he gets to take the boys to the park for more than 10 minutes. -

Daylight savings is the best thing and should stay. Why do we have to be the state that kicks up such a stink about it, when all the other states have no problem with it!?!! -

I love daylight savings! I can come home from work and still have enough time to go to the beach and enjoy the summer. All the oldies do is whinge about it. Even though they have nothing to do all say they still get up at the crack of dawn. Maybe if they got up a bit later then they would go to be later and stop whinging that the sun wont go down! It gets my vote!!!

all you people who actually like it can get fat while you cant exercise in the mornings. try think about the whole state not just your self-absorbed selves. -

I live at the moment in the UK and we have daylight saving here and it does not go dark till 11pm sometimes 11:45pm and then goes light around 4am so not much dark here in summer. but i must say it is the best thing to have. I have young kids of my own and its easy to send them to bed at 6:30pm and they sleep. Its how you have your routine. Come on the West Australians Vote Yes for Day light saving its Fab!!
