All You Can Eat - The Perth Royal Show
Tim 1 October, 2008 - 4:16 PM
It's not an authentic trip to the Royal Show unless you arrive at the queue for the Gravitron with a belly full of complex carbohydrates and sugary beverages.
But for those who need to "Team & Theme" their food with their company at the show, I offer this helpful guide for what to eat:
On A Date - Stay away from anything that can drip on your fancy shirt. That includes Baked Potatoes with Sour Cream, the Creamy Waffle or Chips with that special Tomato Sauce you only get at the show. My suggestion - Donuts. You can share them and to break the ice, throw them at each other with minimal injury.
With the kids - If you've got kids at the show, your priority is going to be getting food into them so you can at least drop the show bags and sit down for a minute or two. Try the Curly Fries - It's a novelty twist on every kid's favourite. You watch them turning your potato into one giant twisted chip in front of your eyes. And at the end, you get extra resting time while the kids try and unravel the mess.
Visiting with the elderly - something easily digestable. Avoid the Satay Chicken stand like the plague... Fairy Floss is easily dissolvable in the mouth and there's nothing funnier than seeing an 82 year old on the most intense sugar buzz of their life. Give them a Gag-Bag and watch the fun as they chase small children with the enclosed Robot arm. Fun for the whole family!
You're at the show alone - if like me, you have no-one to go to the show with take my advice... eat as much as you can - It masks the loneliness
