Would You Trash Your Wedding Dress?
Em 28 July, 2008 - 3:10 PM
Would you trash your wedding dress for the sake of art? It seems a lot of brides are shunning the traditional "stare longingly into each others eyes" wedding shot and favouring the "rip, set on fire and shoot with paint" shot. Brides are having artistic photos taken with them dressed as they were on their wedding day with one big difference. Instead of their dress ending the day on the floor on their honey moon suite the dress ends the shoot completely trashed and they've have it documented for posterity.
I couldn't do it personally, I put so much effort into my dress and I think my dress designer Kevin Raphael would have me taken out!
I want Marchella to have the option to wear it one day and I'll probably pop it on in 5 years or so to see how much weight I've put on or lost!
However, I would never get in the way of a woman's need for closure and I completely understand why a woman would want to destroy the dress that probably caused a lot of stress and will never be worn again. We had a lady ring into the show and say she was willing to destroy her $10,000 dress that she wore in February!
Could you do it? Would you do it?
Let me know, Em x

I don't think I could find it in me, personally! But I totally respect those who do.
In my case, my dress has a whole back story (I got married in December 2007). It was slashed up by a very incompetent alterations lady and my mum lovingly designed a whole new skirt for it, only a couple of weeks out from the wedding. I might have felt a little less sentimental if this had never happened, but now I see it's a weird blessing in disguise. It is that much more special and I hope that if I have a daughter she might have the chance to wear it if she wanted - i would be happy if she altered it again to make it hers.http://www.chunkzoflife.blogspot.com

Yes! I did it today with the 92.9 crew and it was soooo much fun I would do it over and over again. I highly recommend it to anyone. Think the photos taken today are even better than my wedding day photos! Gives wedding dresses a whole new look!!!! Can't wait to show my husband - sure he will love them!! Thanks to the wonderful crew at 92.9 for giving me this opportunity!.

No way I couldn't do that to my wedding dress its too sentimental to me and its a symbol of that special day. But I do understand why some women would if a marriage went wrong.

I think if these girls really wanted to get rid of their wedding dresses you should have held a 92.9 auction party, made as much money as possible....and donated the money to charity. What a waste!!

depends on if i was still with the guy and most of all on the price of the dress.

but deep down even if the marriage didnt work out i would still find it hard to let go of the dress.
i however would sell the dress to someone that might love the dress just as much as i did when i picked the dress to be married in.
if i was still with the guy i would like to keep the dress and maybe give it to my daughter if i ever have one to do something with. -
