Why Did I Cut My Own Hair?
Em 18 July, 2008 - 12:48 PM
Hello all,
I've been craving a change, some excitement. I have been feeling a little complacent and having a good hard look at myself and my life of late.
I've been told it's called "Saturn Return" at least that's what Astrologers call it. The years between your 27th and 30th birthdays are when this all takes place, apparently planet Saturn completes its cycle through your birth chart and returns to the spot it occupied when you were born. It's been called a time of endings and new beginings.
While undergoing your Saturn Return you find yourself turning inward and reflecting on just how things are going in your life. True needs are recognised and addressed and your spot in the universe and what you are doing with it may become an issue for you. This is an important period of consolidation, when you must retreat from the distractions of the outer world and focus on yourself.
I identified with all of that to be honest, so it was Saturn who led me to stand in front of the bathroom mirror with a pair of scissors we use to cut the dogs hair (I put them under boiling water first) and hack at my fringe. I realised I made a mistake with the first cut but do you think I could put down the scissors? Nope, I had to keep going until I had stuffed it right up.
As you can see by the photos I did a brilliant job; I think deep down a lot of us fancy ourselves as hairdressers, handymen, chefs or in Wip's case doctors (not afraid to hand out medical advice) but really we should just leave it to the professionals. Lucky for me Cheryl was able to come in and do what she could with the mess I had created.

Em,
I totally understand where your coming from. It's my 30th this year and I just don't know what's wrong with me. I keep looking at my life and wondering where it's all gone.
Definately 1/4 life crisis!!! My husband is just wondering when it will stop!

I totally understand where you are coming from Em. I have turned 30 this year and am up for a change. My hair is very long and brown and years ago I told my hubby that Id go short and blond when I was 30 and totally chickened out. Id love to change but am a bit worried to do it in case I hate it. I think you were very brave to do it.

Hey Em,
i know excatly where you are coming from. I turned 30 last year and about to turn 31. I had all the same emotions and ye felt like i wanted to change myels into a whole new person and a change of hair is the easiest way. (lucky for mre i am a hairdresser so i wasn't that hard). I also found that i have gone back to wanting to go out and party all the time. Think it's just fear of getting old and wanting to try and claim back some youth. Well at least thats what i tell myself. Lol.
love the show. keep up the good work.zoe xxx
