Em's Zoo Weekly Blog Posted by Em 30 May, 2008 - 9:00 AM

RadioBabe

I feel anxious, sick, insecure and to be honest, like a little bit of a try hard... What have I put myself up for? Will my Italian immigrant father ever forgive me? Will Germain Greer kick me out of the sisterhood?

When the idea of "Zoo's hottest radio babes" was put to me I laughed and assumed it was a cruel joke made at my expense. To my horror when I looked at my boss D.B. and Dennis our web guy, their faces told me they were absolutely serious.

I know I'm a bit of an all-righter but I am by no means a "hot babe" and I felt that by agreeing to take part in this competition people may think that's exactly what I thought of myself. I'm up against the likes of Kate Ritchie, who lets face it, could give Jesus a run for his money in the popularity stakes, and a couple of big brother girls who have far greater "assets" than me.

I'm a woman's woman. Love me for my mind, yeah? I'm relatively intelligent and mildly articulate I don't need confirmation from the readership of zoo weekly that I'm a good chick...

So why the hell then am I secretly hoping that someone somewhere might actually find me appealing enough to vote for? Why do I need this validation? Zoo weekly is not exactly highbrow; no one there is going to win a Pulitzer are they? At the moment they are running a "tightest buns" competition for goodness sake. Yet I would be lying if I said I wouldn't care if no one voted for me.

So here is my take on it, I've had two kids (I know I play that one a fair bit but I've earned the right to!), I'm almost 30, and from what I've been lead to believe, in about 10 years genetics and gravity will take over and things may not be as high up as they are now. I had the photo shoot done yesterday because Wippa, Dennis and D.B. felt I needed a decent shot to enter with and wanted to see if I could do "sexy". I have to say they organised the whole thing and all I had to do was turn up and pout.

I am more anxious about these photos than the naked photo shoot I did a couple of months ago strangely enough. When you look at them be kind, judge, compare draw a moustache on me. Just remember I've had two kids (it never gets old does it).

Em x

Go Em! You've empowered chicks and told us with low self esteem how to look good naked. It's alright to be in the running for hottest radio babe on Zoo. Love 'The Sisterhood'!

Em, dont be silly. You look amazing!! If i had a body like that i would be flaunting it left right and centre. You are a beautiful woman, who actually has a personality, not a bimbo like the other "zoo" models you see. You are the entire package. Your "assets" might not be as great (your words not mine) but they are also not fake, and neither are you. At 30 with 2 kids, i could only hope to look as great as you do, and im 18 :) And im sure u will get all the votes that you deserve, because im sure people want to see real sexyness, a strong, beautiful, independant and intellegent woman that is you, not the fake, lifeless looking robots in the magazine now that feel plastic surgery will make them more attractive, because once their "good looks" have faded with age, they will have nothing left to offer.
