The next phase in the self improvement journey
I have to be honest if my fairy god mother were to appear in front of me ( I imagine her to look like this).
And tell me that with a wave of his wand he could transform and improve my bags, crow's feet, lips and man arms. I have to say I would take up that offer in a heart beat.
I have started to notice how we all seem to have become a bit "make-over" crazy. Look at the shows that are most popular, be it Jamie Durie tizzing up your back yard or Dr 90210 lifting your bosoms. We love the life changing transformations that take place. It seems to give hope that no matter how bad things get or how much you let them go someone will have the means, technology or lotion to fix it up for you.
My 30th birthday is approaching and I like a lot of women do around this age have started to notice the "cracks in the paint work", so to speak! When I was young, bendy, smooth and everything was still perky aka pre children I would scoff at women who would resort to cosmetic surgery. I thought it was the lazy person's way out, now I am more mature and less…er….young my views are far more relaxed.
On yesterday's show we talked about cosmetic surgery, upon surveying my female friends I was surprised to find how many of them have gone down the "non- invasive fixer-uppers" route. We're talking muscle relaxants, fillers, IPL and the like. These treatments have little to no down time are relatively in-expensive and are not a drastic change. The general consensus was they all looked as though they'd had a really good sleep or a nice long holiday. After talking about it on air and taking your calls I have to say my interest has definitely been heightened.
After the show we were approached by a client of 92.9, they are called Absolute Cosmetic Medicine (http://www.absolutecosmetic.com.au) and have offered to see me and make some recommendations on possible treatments I could receive to "freshen up" my face a little.
I am going along today to have my face examined and I am a little nervous but also excited. I have spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars trying improve my face especially the area under my eyes. I always look tired, it is a genetic condition that I have had since I was a little kid and have always been extremely conscience of.
I am hoping something can be done about that. I am well aware this type of thing is not for everyone and I would never recommend you get a procedure done just because I've done it. I'd like to look at it this way; I am your guinea pig and am willing to try some non-invasive procedures in the name of looking better and curiosity.
I'll let you know how I go tomorrow as I am sure to return from my consultation today with a long shopping list and we can decide together what I should and shouldn't get done.
In the name of self improvement and giving the finger to the aging process I shall go forward and investigate!

You're so young I don't understand why you would want to do this at your age. Wait till you're 45+ if you must do it.

Hi Em, I think its a really personal choice, I myself am seriously wanting to have a tummy lift,I am the big 40 and have had 4 big 9 pound boys over the years.Hence to say my tummy is driving me insaine it affects everything i wear because the overhang is too much loose skin, after losing 38 kiloes a few years ago i should feel great but i get so upset because of the tummy issue. I am so nervous and don't know where to begin everyone wants to tell of the horror stories, but i just need to know of a good surgeion whom i can trust. If any of your listeners could recommend someone it would be greatly appreciated. Go for what you believe makes you happy and all the best.

In my opinion if there is something about you that makes you unhappy, and you are able to change it to make you feel better about yourself, then why not? -

Em, God loves you just as you are, there is no need to conform to the worlds standard of beaty as proposed by the media today. You have a family who loves you, you don't need to change. Think about how this will affect other young impressionable girls too.... do you want them to go under the knife as well, for no medical reason. I say stand up to the world of advertising and say that you are who you are, as God made you, and thats the way im staying! All the best. Craig

You should consider your self lucky I am only 24 and have to have a breast reduction because they are to big for my body shape so I have to try to lose weight so I can get it done which is not so easy so if you have got any tips on that would be great, so don't think you need any work done at all because you DON'T need it. -

Em, my opinion is if it boost's your esteem, makes you feel good about yourself go ahead! I can relate as I am self concious about my big boobs! If I could get a reduction without the expense and pain I would! I can't wear white tops as it makes them look even bigger, I have to go up a size in dresses to accommodate my bust then the rest is way too big. I hate men taking to my chest instead of my face and not to mention not finding any pretty, sexy bra's in my size! Also back ache is not so fun. So yes my love if it makes you feel better about yourself go for it! I guess as long as you research and go with a reputable company it's all good! Good luck and it's all about how you feel about you, not anyone else!

Hi Em, I know how you feel I am a size 10, 33 year old and also hating the ageing process. Having 4 kids doesn't help the whole gravity thing either. I say go for it!! I have been saying to myself for years that "I" am really unhappy with the way I look post children. I feel older than my years and I think what ever will keep "you" happy is worth doing. It's such a personal choice, hard for others to judge. Can't wait to hear how you go, GOOD LUCK!

Hi Em. Everyone wants to look their best and when the wrinkles started showing, I personally am trying to keep them at bay as long as possible. I havent tried botox or any injectables, but I have had IPL for skin rejuvenation on my face and IPL for hair removal on my bikini. I have also had breast implants. I am a 31 yr old mum of 2 and have no regrets for having anything done. I am considering other procedures...nothing too extreme.
