Taylor Swift Turns Australia RED

Allianz Stadium was a sea of RED as Taylor Swift proved why she is not just a pop starlet, but a worldwide phenomenon.

Swift kicked off the Australian leg of her RED tour in Sydney to critic acclaim.

True to the tour’s name, Taylor  focused primarily on her 2012 smash hit album, “Red” , launching on stage to album track ‘State of Grace’.  Taylor and her troop of dancers, musicians and acrobats filled the stage – wowing stadium go-ers and giving them a taste of what’s to come.

2 songs in and miss Swift takes the opportunity to reach out to the audience and discuss relationships before launching into ‘Red’ to then bullying and bad attitudes as a prologue to “Mean.”

A highlight reel of Taylors first 21 years on earth is shown in chronological order on the giant screens dotted around the stage, until erupting into hit ‘22’ which got the crowd well and truly on their feet.

Not one to shy away from her fans, Taylor moved through the crowd with her dancers to a 2nd stage at the rear of the stadium, to show a softer side of her with a stripped back performance of ‘You Belong With Me’.

Proving why she has carved her own niche in the pop/country category, Taylor belted through a string of hits, many songs featuring costume changes and even unique set themes. Classics ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ & ‘Love Story’ were delivered with cleverly produced video packages joining the dots, the crowd singing with Taylor the entire time.

For the program-closing “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” the elaboration reached a peak:  as Swift circled the arena floor on a hydraulic lift, dancers in carnival makeup - some on stilts - pranced around the stage and floor ramp as confetti sprayed over the arena.

Last night, Sydney got to witness a Taylor who is no longer the shy country singer hiding behind her guitar, but a front woman who is 100% in control and loving every moment."

Taylor continues her stadium tour around Australia over the next 10 days.  Tickets are selling fast so get yours below!
