Lloyd Rayney

Justice Brian Martin, QC has handed down his judgement on the Lloyd Rayney murder trial and found the defendant not guilty of murder. The former prosecutor has also been cleared off manslaughter of his wife Corryn at their Perth home in 2007.

Five years after her body was discovered in a bush grave in Kings Park - and following a three month trial - Justice Brian Martin found there was not enough evidence to convict Mr Ratney of the two charges against him.

He said while the police investigation was at times irresponsible and reprehensible - it was conducted to it's full extent.

Outside court Lloyd Rayney said he was grateful the trial was over, but says his two daughters are still without a mother and there is still no closure on who killed his estranged wife.

Corryn's sister Sharon says they will continue to fight for justice for Corryn.

There's no word on whether the state will appeal the decision.
