J.K. Rowling’s Heart-Warming Surprise For Young Harry Potter Fan
After hearing about the brutal murder of Cassidy Stay’s entire family and the young girl’s love of Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling wanted to do something special… so she sent her a handwritten letter from Dumbledore.
The 15-year-old from Texas was the sole survivor of a horrible attack on her family by an estranged uncle, where her parents and four siblings, aged 14, nine, seven and four, were killed.
Cassidy found solace in her favourite book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and even quoted the book during an emotional speech at the funeral three days later.
“Happiness can be found even in the darkest times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
In response to the young girl’s bravery, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling wrote a personal and touching letter in purple ink, which is significant to fans of the books, in the voice of much-loved character Dumbledore.
“We can confirm that JK Rowling was in touch with Cassidy Stay, however, the contents of the letter remain private,” a rep for the author said.
The generous author also sent Cassidy a wand, an acceptance letter to the School of Hogwarts, and many other themed items that would make any Potter fanatic happy.
All of this was made possible thanks to the efforts of Harry Potter fans who heard about her story and started an online campaign for Rowling to meet Cassidy, which they’re still hoping will happen in the future.
