New iPhone 5C and 5S Unveiled
Today Apple has announced the details of their highly anticipated new iPhones – an upgraded iPhone 5S and a cheaper version iPhone 5C.
Both phones will feature the new iOS 7 which is available for all iPhone users on the 18th September.
The iPhone 5C is essentially the same as the iPhone 5, it just comes in a plastic cover.

- 4-inch Retina display with an integrated touch layer.
- A6 processor - same as the iPhone 5.
- The battery is slightly larger than it was on the iPhone 5.
- 8-megapixel rear camera and a new FaceTime HD cameras.
- Dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0
The iPhone 5S comes in silver, gold and “space grey”. It’ll now run 64-bit Apps (previously all were on 32-bit) and features updated email, calendar and iPod. The camera has 15% more area and a longer battery life.
Apple says the iPhone 5S is the "world's first and only smartphone" with a 64-bit chip.
The new iPhone 5S also introduces Touch ID, the rumoured fingerprint sensor for the iPhone. Built into the home button, Touch ID uses a laser cut sapphire crystal, together with the capacitive touch sensor, to take a high-resolution image of the user's fingerprint and use that to unlock the device.
It also has a 4-inch Retina display. iPhone 5S, Apple claims, delivers 10 hours of talk time on 3G networks, up to 10 hours of web browsing on WiFi and LTE networks and up to 8 hours on 3G networks, and up to 10 hours of video playback and up to 40 hours of audio playback.
Apple designed leather cases in six rich colors for the iPhone 5S - beige, black, blue, brown, yellow and red.
The iPhone 5C will come in five colours - yellow, pink, green, blue, and white. CEO Tim Cook calls it "more fun and colourful" than any other iPhone. The iPhone 5C has a 4-inch Retina display and is powered by Apple's A6 chip. It also has an 8 megapixel camera, live photo filters and a rear cover that lights up.
Apple's new budget iPhone 5C will be available in Australia for $739 for its 16GB model and the 32Gb model will cost $869 including GST.
The iPhone 5S will be $869 for the 16GB model, $999 for the 32GB model and $1129 for the 64GB model.
Both phones will be available to pre-order from the 13th of September, and available in stores Friday September 20th.
