At 3:30pm at a Northern Suburbs shopping centre carpark in Adelaide, onlookers noticed a 14 week old baby still inside a car. With temperatures soaring at 41 degrees they feared for the baby's safety.
A security guard was forced to smash the window open to rescue the child.
A police spokesman said when the owner of the car returned it is believe she had failed to realise the child was in the back seat. The woman had taken the baby out because the infant's mother was ill at home.
No charges will be laid.
