Mystery English Speaking Homeless Teen In Rome Linked To Madeleine McCann Case
A homeless English-speaking teen discovered in Rome has captured the attention of Internet sleuths.
The girl was spotted living rough on the streets of Rome, and has been seen wearing the same clothes for several weeks. She speaks no Italian, and responds to questions in English.
A local told the Missing Persons Of America website, “I don’t know if she is even American. I’ve seen her in Rome streets. She sleeps outside and has mental problems I think. But looks she hasn’t done this kind of life before because she doesn’t accept money and she is very careful and well behaved while eats. I think she is a foreign student because she doesn’t know any Italian.”
Police have attempted to identify the girl, who initially said her name was Maria. She has been fingerprinted and photos have been taken, but she has not been identified.
The girl has been linked to several missing persons cases, with commenters suggesting that she could be Maria-Brigitte Henselmann, a German girl who went missing in 2013 or Amanda Adlai, an American girl who was abducted by her father in 2008.
Internet campaigners also believe that she may be Madeleine McCann, who went missing from a resort in Portugal in May 2007 at the age of 3. Madeleine would be 13 now.
DO YOU KNOW THIS GIRL? New photo of the UNIDENTIFIED girl, made by the Italian police. The girl remains unidentified. She ANSWERS in ENGLISH only. Has light eyes.
The girl has appeared on Italian TV, and locals are hoping she will be identified soon. The Missing Persons Of America group has launched a campaign to get her home for Christmas.
