This Is How Long It Will Take To Save A House Deposit In Perth
What if you skipped your avo toast?
It seems everyone just can’t stop talking about avocado toast and house prices.
If you missed it, an opinion piece in The Australian said that young people were wasting their money on “smashed avocado with crumbled feta on five-grain toasted bread at $22 a pop and more” when they should be saving for a house deposit.
Young Australians were quick to hit back by highlighting just how expensive property is in our capital cities.
But could skipping out on your weekly avocado toast really help you save for your first home?
According to stats from The Guardian, here’s how long it will take you to save a deposit for a house in Perth:
A 20% deposit on a median-priced house is $106,380 in Perth.
If you can save $100 a week it will take 16.3 years in total.
If you skip avo toast once a week it will only take 13.8 years.
Does that make a difference to your budget? Or would you rather just enjoy your avo toast whenever you want?
