Days after the singer sparked engagement rumours when she was pictured wearing a diamond ring, it has now been revealed she tied the knot with rapper Nick Cannon in the Caribbean.

According to reports, the "very impulsive" ceremony took place at Mariah's new home in the Bahamas on Wednesday (30.04.08). Mariah's nephew added fuel to the speculation with messages posted on the social networking website Facebook.

Updates made by Shawn McDonald to his page this week referred to him going to the Bahamas and acting as a witness.

Family member Linda Cannon confirmed the news, telling US TV network E!: "Nick called us and told us all about it. We are happy for him. If that is what he wants then we are happy for him.

"I'm not going to give you any details, but we are happy for him." Another source confirmed the news, adding that there was no pre-nuptial agreement as "there wasn't time".

However, jewellers Jacob and Co. have dismissed the suggestion, saying they designed the 17 carat pink diamond ring after he split from Selita.

Mariah and Nick began dating after he directed the video for her single, 'Bye Bye', in March.
