Pash partners Jess and Ruby just "best mates" Music 26 May, 2008 - 11:54 AM

MTV host Ruby Rose has told the Hot30 she and some-time pash partner Jess Origliasso from The Veronicas are strictly just "best mates".

Much to Tim Lee's disappointment, she downplayed the pair's headline-grabbing public displays of affection, saying: "Jessie is just a really free little spirit. We really are just mates… I'd be completely honest if there was anything more."

The couple were first spotted locking lips in March at the Cleo Bachelor of the Year Awards after-party and then again at a MAC fashion week after-party in April. At the Australian MTV awards, upon accepting the Australian Artist Music Award, Jess thanked Ruby for "being really hot".

Despite the recurrences, Ruby is quick to shut down rumours the pair could ever be an item, saying "no, I've got a super hot girlfriend and I want to be with her."

So how does her girlfriend feel about her encounters of the Veronica kind?

"It's always get written that Jess and I kiss, but half the time we don't. Half the time we're not even in the same room," Rose explained. "A long time ago, when Jess and I met at a party and I think we kissed for five seconds and then we realised we were best mates. She's got a boyfriend, I've got a girlfriend."

The MTV star did admit she's a fan of The Veronicas for musical reasons too. "I don't mind some of The Veronicas' song. I do like their latest song."

  As a close friend of Ruby, I can confirm that this was NOT a publicity stunt. Ruby is a crazy wonderful girl who kisses her friends for fun! She was newly 'famous' at the time and didn't realise the implications it would have. She got in HUGE trouble from her GF!
