Movie Review: The House Bunny Posted by Stav 6 October, 2008 - 9:44 AM

The House Bunny

Starring: Anna Farris, Rumour Willis Colin Hanks

When Shelly, a 27 year old playboy bunny, is kicked out of the playboy mansion she thinks her life is over. That is until she stumbles apon a collage sorority in desperate need of  a makeover. They are about to lose there house unless shelly can whip these scocially clueless ugly ducklings into uber popular campus cuties.

Anna Farris (scary movie quadrilogy, the hot chick) stars as Shelly and brings her usual brand of empy headed slapstick to the screen. She really is a comedic talent in search of a great role. The House Bunny is not that role, although it does have enough moments of hilarity to sustain its hour and a half running time. The "plot" rockets along without stopping for  breath, abandoning sub plots and characters with gay abandon (why was shelly adopted? How did she end up at the Mansion? Why does the bitchy bunny hate Shelly so much?) but turn your brain off and you will be pleasantly entertained.

The girls who chose Shelly as their house mother are an amusing band of misfits and Colin Hanks (son of tom) has real charm s Shellys love interest. But this really is Anna Farris's show and she proves she can carry a movie on her own with a deft mix of dumb blonde logic and luccille ball slap stick. This obviously isn't going to win any Oscars and does have a slightly offensive you must be beautiful to be popular message but if you go in as air headed as shelly and let the movie wash ovr you without giving it too much thought, you will find yourself chuckiling along merrily.

Oh and if nothing else this movie proves Hugh Heffener CANNOT act....

Quotable notables
Shelley: The eyes are the nipples of the face...
Natalie: Shelley knows how to meet guys, hence, we will learn how to meet guys.
Shelley: Yeah, hence!
ny time Shelly meets someone......
