What is everyone talking about?

Big Brother Voting Posted by Dani 17 June, 2008 - 10:11 AM

The power to evict is back in the hands of Australia so today I have decided to talk voting. Every week nominations send ripples through the BB house. Nominated housemates either spend days tormenting themselves with possible reasons for being put up for eviction. Or others like myself in my time as a housemate, make the decision that if this is potentially their last week than they will say all that needs to be said and done regardless of the consequences.

Inside the house I have over the years noticed two standout types of characters. Firstly it's the person who is entertaining, says exactly what is on their mind regardless of other people. This character sends waves through the BB house and makes coming up with storylines easy for producers. There is then the classic "nice guy". The person we all want to live with because they don't get affected by much, don't have a lot to say and never get involved in any major drama (except perhaps a sob-story about how hard they have had it at one stage of their lives).

I see the power to evict as an opportunity to make sure the show stays entertaining. The usual winners with no opinion, who sit steadily in the background, are in my opinion the most boring housemates to watch. I classify myself as the entertainment voter. I vote for they guy or girl, who lets face it may not be so nice all of the time but may unfortunately suffer the consequences of being entertaining, different from the personality voter who votes based on who they like as a person and who is genuinely good value to the house, not to the show.

So what happens now Australia? How do you vote? Are you an entertainment or personality voter? Do you get rid of the person responsible for the drama and tension in the house, or do you get rid of boring Mr Nice Guy?
