The rumours have been circulating for months but now it's been officially confirmed that Britney Spears has signed on to be a judge on the X Factor in the US.
The show's new judging panel made their first public appearance together in New York for FOX's Upfront Presentation, a showcase for the network's new TV programs.

Talk about star factor: none other than Britney Spears has signed on as a judge on the next season of the American X Factor.
The job will reportedly earn Britney a whopping $15 million for the season.
"The contract is signed," E! Reports via source. "It's all completed and Britney is beyond excited ... She is excited about showing the world that she can do this, and do this well. This is the perfect next stage in her career. Both Britney and Simon [Cowell] are very excited to work together."
Looks like it could be a Disney-fest, with other former mouse stars Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato reportedly being approached as judges adter Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul were canned from the last series.
Britney reportedly turned down $10 million this year to appear as a mentor on the show.
Shock jock Howard Stern didn't have much to say about Britney's new job.
“I think Britney is going to stand there and eat a lollipop and wear a sexy outfit and I don’t expect great opinions out of her. I’ll tune in and see what kind of a train wreck she is.”
Considering she doesn't sing live and barely speaks, watching her try to judge a singing competition should be trainwreck-alicious!

Wow, your dad and your boyfriend both having legal control over you, that sounds like fun... This could be reality for Britney Spears as it has been revealed that her fiance Jason Trawick is petitioning to join her father as her conservator.
Britney's Dad Jamie Spears has had legal control over Britney and her affairs since February 2008, following on from her well documented breakdown.
Jason won't have anything to do with her finances though, just her “well being”.
Some are claiming that this move could mean a wedding is around the corner.

Britney Spears has sold the house that some of her most famous antics have taken place in – for $US4,253,000. It was originally listed as just under 3 million dollars but a bidder upped to the ante.
Britters is moving in with her fiance Jason Trawick.
The Beverly Hills property is where Brit had a meltdown and was carried out of the house in a stretcher in 2008 on a 5150 psychiatric hold. Her father's conservatorship over her life stemmed from this event.
